The prompt is “Normal” I got the prompt from Poetic Asides by Robert Lee Brewer. It’s fun and you should feel free to try it if you are so inclined! You do have to sign up to the forum to leave a poem in the comments, but it is so worth it.
Here is my try for today:
For my mom who’s been there, done that.
We’re All Fine Here
You’re driving me mad
and I don’t quite know
what to do.
Be angry and yell
and leave?
Continue the passive
resistance,
digging
in
my
heels
so stubbornly
refusing to see what is right there?
Or act like
everything
is
normal.
Pretend I don’t see
the women
the drinking
the late nights
the insanity
you’re taking our family through?
But then, what am I thinking?
This is normal for you.
