Sweet/Sour

Two for Tuesday – sweet and sour, all in one silly poem.

Watch-for-snakes

False

The winning smile, the grasping hand.
The teeth are bright, the eyes are bland.
They seem so nice, so cheerful, too,
and seem so honest, kind and true.
But underneath that cheerful grin
lurks something else, something akin
to sharks and snakes and rats and eels
and cads and creeps and louts and heels.
This kind, you see, are all too common
in politicians, salesmen and lawmen.
In lobbyists, lawyers, ministers, priests,
stinkers, bounders, scoundrels and beasts.
So, yes, learn to trust, but just be aware
of sweet looking rascals living out there.
