Travel

These days the world is smaller,
we can get anywhere in the world
within a day,
even considering layovers.
Hop a flight to Paris
or Bermuda
or New Zealand
at a moment’s notice.
Pow, a whole new culture
ours to explore.

But we find ourselves reluctant
when we see the cost—not just price.

Each plane is packed within inches
and one’s allotted space is cramped.
Rude people? Sure.
Crying babies? Count on it.

Assault by airline personnel?
Really?

The world seems larger by the moment.
More distant.
Unreachable.
Vast.
